Rockdale County Fire-Rescue will be conducting live fire training evolutions in the city April 22 - 26. The extensive training will take place at Ridge Court in Hunting Creek Subdivision located off of Flat Shoals Road.
There will be numerous fire engines, trucks and personnel at this location throughout the week. Smoke will be a factor in the area, so residents are advised to keep windows closed through the week if possible.
The training will include working in true conditions and live-fire scenarios such as search and rescue, hose evolutions, fire attacks, and firefighter safety to sustain the skills all firefighters must maintain.
The City of Conyers offered the vacant building to the fire department, which offers a great training opportunity for Rockdale County Fire-Rescue.
Training within Rockdale allows Fire-Rescue to practice many skills needed on a routine basis and involve its certified instructors while still being on-call to provide fire coverage to the county, all at no cost to the department. This type of training can cost more than $10,000 at other facilities and does not include the significant man hours for preparation, travel expenses and salaries. Thus, the burn will provide considerable financial savings and opportunities to Rockdale.
