The Nancy Guinn Library Board voted to keep the library closed on Sundays in anticipation of requested budget cuts from the county. The library is currently closed on Sundays during its summer schedule. The closures will help distribute staff hours to the rest of the week when the expanded library opens in the fall. The library had originally planned to increase staff with the expanded facilities, but now is looking to maintain the current the staff.
The state also recently reduced library grants by 4 percent, which will take $26,444 out of the library’s book budget.
