Ben-Carter-2012-025
Ben Carter

IN BRIEF: Conyers-Rockdale Library System Assistant Director Ben Carter has been named Interim Director after Daryl Fletcher, the library's director since Dec. 2011, resigned to take a position at Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia.

Fletcher will be the director of Luther Rice Seminary's academic library.

Carter said regarding the transition, "The staff and community here wish Daryl well as he pursues a new career adventure."

Before returning as assistant director in November 2012, Carter had previously served as head of Youth Services at the Conyers-Rockdale Library's Nancy Guinn Memorial Library from 2006 to 2007 and then worked for Gwinnett Public Library System for five years. A native of Walton County, Carter has degrees from University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Fletcher came to the Conyers-Rockdale Library in 2006 as Assistant Director for Technical Services and was involved in the Library's SPLOST-funded renovation. He was named interim director after the contract of previous director Debbie Manget was not renewed. Prior to that, he worked for a company Interface Electronics that serviced libraries and for the Ga. Public Library Service.

The Conyers-Rockdale Library Board of Trustees will be formalizing the process for selecting a new director in the coming months, according to a released statement.
