We have a tendency to overcomplicate matters at times. With all the knowledge and technology that we have at our disposal, it leaves us with the impression that our lives are made easier when, in fact, our lives have become more complicated. Advances in knowledge and technology have led us to believe that it takes a tremendous amount of effort to accomplish goals and tasks in life.
Jesus helps us to understand that as believers all it takes is just a little bit of faith. Jesus says ‘if you have faith as a mustard seed.' Mustard seeds are some of the smallest seeds you can find. What Jesus wants us to know is if we use the smallest amount of faith, we can move the mountains in our lives. All it takes is just a little bit. A little bit of effort to accomplish a great task. Finding a job appears to be a very daunting task with the current state of the economy.
Yet, with a little faith in yourself and a little faith in your abilities, you can find employment. A little bit of love to help others in their time of need. It takes just a little bit of time to pull over and help someone with a flat tire. It takes just a little time to help a senior citizen load his or her grocery bags into their car. It takes just a little time to help a struggling student with a math or reading problem. A little bit of faith to overcome mountains.
If we just try a little harder, we can climb the highest of mountains. A little bit of joy to brighten someone else's day. A little smile may be what another person needs to cheer up. It takes a little bit of encouragement to push someone to their destiny. It doesn't take much to tell someone else, ‘you can do it.' It doesn't take much effort to tell someone else, ‘I believe in you.' If we commit to give just a little bit; we can definitely accomplish a lot.
