Julia (Mae) Flanigan Craighead was born November 24, 1916 to Mr. Lon and Mrs. Elizabeth Flanigan in Covington, GA.  She was one of 15 children and was preceded in death by her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.  Julia was united in holy matrimony to Boyd Chester Craighead on August 16, 1954.  She has one daughter, Christine Vera Cook. She retired from Washington, D.C. School District as a Science Teacher after teaching over 35 years.  She loved to "SHOP" and was QVC's best friend.  Mom loved to share her treasured finds with those she loved; she was a true giver.  Julia's age was a mystery to many as she loved to change it on a regular basis. “Keep them guessing” was her motto.  Julia is remembered fondly as a devoted wife, a loving mother and a faithful church member.  She is survived by her daughter, Christine Vera Cook; son-in-law, Roscoe Cook; devoted brother and sisters, Robert Flanigan, Vera Davis, Annie Benton and Sue Gilstrap; also many devoted and loving nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Rev. Paul A. Thibodeaux officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Condolences may be submitted on-line at  www.scotward.com.  Scot Ward Funeral Services, 699 American Legion Road, Conyers, GA 30012, 770-483-7216.
