Rockdale County and City of Conyers officials will hold a joint Public Information Meeting (PIM) to seek public input on the proposal of calling for a vote on a sales tax that would begin after the current special purpose sales tax ends in 2011. The County and City are considering holding a sales tax referendum, or Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), in conjunction with the July 20 Primary Election.
The PIM will be held Thursday, February 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the J.P. Carr Community Center, 981 Taylor Street. The public is encouraged to attend to ask questions and provide feedback to County and City officials. Details on the categories being considered to be funded by the SPLOST will include: public safety, transportation, recreation, water resources and greenspace acquisition. Representatives from the County and City will be available to discuss in more detail about the projects that would be funded by the SPLOST if approved by voters.
