Honoring first responders at Conyers FUMC

CFUMC's contemporary praise team

The sanctuary at Conyers First United Methodist Church was packed with Rockdale's finest and many other Americans who turned out to pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 lives lost a decade ago on Sept. 11.

The "Some Gave All, All Gave Some" remembrance was a reflective, powerful and hopeful experience. After the Honor Guard presented the flags, Rockdale County Fire Department's Lt. David Carter and battalion Capt. Joel Yoder shared insights on the firefighters' brotherhood. The service was punctuated with audio from dispatch as both World Trade Center towers collapsed and dispatch from Pentagon and United Flight 93 air traffic control followed by the tolling of the bells.

The melody of bagpipes and choir and praise music and Dr. John Beyers' sermon of assurance that God is with us at all times provided a refuge of reassurance on a historic day.
