Heritage splits on the road

The Heritage boys varsity basketall team continued its hot start to the 2013-2014 season Tuesday night on the road, outlast Gainesville 91-87 in region action.

The win was the seventh this season for the Patriots, as they moved to 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Andre Harris led the Patriots with 20 points in the win, while Byron Abrams, Isaiah Banks, Rashad Jones and Jordan Thomas also finished in double figures. Abrams finished with 18 points, while Banks and Jones each finished with 14. Thomas added 11 points in the win.

Gainesville carried a 47-42 lead into halftime, but the Patriots outscored the Red Elephants 27-22 in the final period of play after limiting Gainesville to 18 points in the second half.

Harris also finished with a team-high five rebounds.

The Lady Patriots lost their eighth game of the season to Gainvilles, falling 59-16 on the road.

Guard Damali Thomas led the Patriots with eight points.
