The Heritage fans have seen plenty of good football games at Evans Stadium in the Patriots' Region 8-AAAA championship season, and that trend will continue.
The Patriots were the first name taken out of a hat by Loganville principal and Region 8-AAAA president Nathan Franklin at Loganville High School in a drawing of the three region co-champions Saturday morning. Thanks to the selection Heritage, which won its first ever region title is now the No. 1 seed or the first time in school history.
"We are happy to be the No. 1 seed," Heritage coach Chad Frazier said.
The Patriots (9-1) will open the Class AAAA playoffs by weloming Rome (7-3) of Region 7-AAAA at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Of Heritage's five losses throughout the last two seasons, only one has come at Evans Stadium - 21-13 to Flowery Branch on Oct. 14.
"We ahve traditionally played well at home and there will be some good football teams, having to come to our house."
