Help cleanup Rockdale on Community Day

Rockdale residents will have a chance to make the community a little nicer on Community Day on Oct. 16.


Community day events include cleaning local rivers, lakes and streams, roadways, parks and other areas within the community.


Local volunteers will meet with Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful organizers beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 at Wheeler Park pavilion located at 1350 Parker Rd. An appreciation luncheon will be held for all volunteers from noon until 2 p.m. Each volunteer will also receive a free T-shirt.


Participants are also encouraged to bring can good to the event, which will be donated to the Rockdale County Food bank.
The event in also part of Rivers Alive, a joint program of the Georgia Department of Natural Resource's Environmental Protection Division and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Keep Georgia Beautiful program.


Rivers Alive is a statewide campaign to clean and preserve over 70,000 miles of Georgia's rivers and streams.


Rivers Alive volunteer registration forms are available at the County offices of the Administration and Services Building at 958 Milstead Avenue, on www.rockdalecounty.org and can be faxed or mailed by request.


Latex gloves, safety vests and trash bags will be provided to all volunteers. Groups must register by Oct. 11.
