Georgia Perimeter College’s Newton Campus invites college-bound students, community members and their families to help GPC celebrate its first-ever "Awesome Autumn" Open House from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Oct. 19. The campus is at 239 Cedar Lane, Covington, and the event is free.
During the morning, campus tours, information about classes, academic advisers and financial aid officers will be available, and new students will receive a GPC application fee waiver.
"Just Dogs" will provide free hot dogs and drinks. There also will be games for all ages, displays from local community vendors; demonstrations from the Newton County Fire Department, and more. A softball tournament at the campus will feature teams from local businesses (Beaver Manufacturing, General Mills, Bridgestone) competing for the first Newton Open House Softball Tournament trophy.
Opened in 2007, the GPC Newton campus provides "a higher education pathway for those seeking a two-year associate degree" as well as a less-expensive start for students wishing to transfer to complete a four-year baccalaureate degree at other University System of Georgia institutions.
