We are relieved that at least through this round, our local car dealers - Town and Country Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Lou Sobh Buick Pontiac GMC and John Miles Chevrolet - have survived the Chrysler and General Motors cuts.
Not only are these dealerships an integral part of the community, the taxes that these dealerships provide to Rockdale County, if lost, would be a significant blow. The loss of the jobs would have affected not only the employees of the dealerships but also the local business community who have had the benefit of their business.
The survival of these dealerships is a testament to the good management and staff of these companies.
