Former Conyers resident arrested on child porn charges

The FBI's Safe Child Task Force announced it arrested Michael L. Asher, 43, of Suwanee, on Monday, Aug. 31 on federal charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

The former resident of Conyers was arrested without incident at his Alpharetta office.

Asher, a computer engineer for a telecommunications firm, had his initial appearance in court Monday afternoon at the Richard B. Russell Federal Courthouse, Atlanta, and will have a bond hearing Sept. 3.

Rockdale County Sheriff's Office provided assistance with the above investigation.

The Safe Child Task Force consists of FBI Agents as well as officers from Alpharetta P.D., Lawrenceville P.D., Sandy Springs P.D., Roswell P.D., Johns Creek P.D., Tyrone P.D., and Newton County Sheriff's Office.
