Food, fun, family at Ga. Piedmont College

The Georgia Piedmont Technical College Foundation will host a community gathering of free health screenings, family fun and food as well as safety and security demonstrations on June 2 at the Newton Campus of the college at 8100 Bob Williams Parkway.

The event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

There will be music and entertainment; face painting and storytelling; balloon animals; an inflatable funhouse; tractor rides; games; vital signs check; blood pressure checks; blood sugar check; cholesterol check; child safety seat check; basic vehicle service tips. On-site demonstrations include: police K-9 services, GBI bomb truck/robot demonstration; EMS mannequins; police Explorers, rollover vehicles; CPR/AED classes and much more.

The event is aimed at raising funds for the GPTC Foundation. Admission and activities are free but food will be sold to raise funds for scholarships and college improvements.

Georgia Piedmont Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, promotes a student-centered environment for lifelong learning and development, encompassing academic and technical education for employment in a global community.

The college has nine centers of learning in DeKalb, Newton, Rockdale and Morgan counties. Georgia Piedmont Technical College currently has more than 5,000 students enrolled in diploma or degree programs and more than 9,000 in adult education classes.
