The National Weather Service out of Peachtree City has issued a flood warning for north and central Georgia, including Rockdale County, for Thursday 1 a.m. to 7 p.m., with heavy rain expected until early Friday.

"Widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches, with isolated amounts up to 3 inches, are expected from early Thursday morning through Thursday evening. The area of greatest rainfall potential is generally south of a line from Buchanan through Cumming to Danielsville," according to the warning issued at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday.

Soils are still wet from rain this past weekend and runoff from additional rain is expected to cause streams and rivers to rise.
