Evening of candidate interviews by Newsmakers Live

Rockdale County residents will have an opportunity to hear from candidates in the County Commission Chairman, Post 1 Commissioner, Sheriff and Clerk of Courts races on Sept. 20 when the NEWSMAKERS Live organization hold live interviews to be streamed and taped for online broadcast.

“The New Rockdale County Politics” event, an evening of interviews with candidates and “infotainment,” will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Marshall Sports Bar and Grill, 1180 Sigman Road. 

Candidates for Board of Commissioners Chairman, Post I Commissioner, Sheriff and Clerk of Courts have been invited. 

Organizer and founder Jim Welcome said his organization was trying to move the community forward. “We’re trying to get people on the on both sides of the aisle to talk to each other,” said Welcome. He pointed out much more could be accomplished for the community and for African-Americans by coming together.

The evening will be moderated by Rob Redding, with a live performance from musical guest Sue Martin. 

Previous guests on NEWSMAKERS Live include Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, former DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones, Congressman Hank Johnson, former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin.
