MARIETTA - Entries are being accepted for the 21st annual Georgia Public Links Championship, which takes place September 12-13 at Overlook Golf Links in LaGrange. This event is open to male amateur golfers who are Georgia residents and members of any Georgia State Golf Association Member Club that is open to public play. Entrants must not have held privileges at any club that does not permit public play since January 1, 2009.

The format of the event is 36 holes of flighted, stroke play during two days. The field will consist of the 72 entrants with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes competing in the championship flight with the remaining 72 players being drawn by lottery and competing in flights one through six. Last year, Macon's Matt Corbitt fought off two competitors over five playoff holes to capture the championship. Corbitt, who matched the tournament's single-round record of 65 in the opening round, carded a 137 total to finish regulation tied with Ryan Wilson and Mark Whisenant of Douglasville.

Qualified players must enter online at the GSGA Web site (www.gsga.org) by clicking the online registration quick link. A tournament FAQ page is also available via download as a PDF file through the GSGA Web site. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, August 19, at 5 p.m. The entry period is also currently open for the Georgia Senior Championship and the GSGA Senior Women's Championship (both through August 5).
