The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office seized more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana in a traffic stop Saturday.

At 12:20 p.m., A Rockdale County Sheriff's Deputy stopped a Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling on I-20 westbound at the DeKalb County line for a traffic violation.

After being questioned, the driver was also asked for his license, which he was unable to provide to the deputy.

The driver, a Hispanic male, was placed under arrest for driving while unlicensed. After the arrest, a K-9 unit searched the vehicle and the handler was alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Two trash bags containing marijuana were located in the cab of the truck and 10 trash bags were located in the bed of the truck weighing over 1,000 pounds. The marijuana has a street value of approximately $500,000 - $700,000.

RCSO spokesperson Sgt. Jodi Shupe said the identity of the driver is being withheld because he was involved in another investigation stemming from the arrest.
