CONYERS - A vehicle making a routine turn onto Parker Road somehow made its way over the median and crashed into oncoming traffic Friday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m., the 49-year-old driver of a 2001 Ford Mustang was making a right turn onto Parker Road coming from Flat Shoals Road. We accelerated over to the southbound lanes and was struck by a tow truck on the passenger side, says Conyers Police Department spokesperson Kim Lucas.
The driver received an injury to his right arm and lacerations to his face and torso area. He was transported to Atlanta Medical Center to treat his injuries.
Police aren't sure what caused the driver to accelerate over as of yet. Lucas says the driver doesn't appear to have been drinking.
The driver of the tow truck, a 44-year-old male, made an attempt to avoid a collision with the sports car. According to Lucas, the tow truck produced a skid mark trail up to 75 feet long in an attempt to suddenly stop. He had no injuries.
