A Conyers man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in the early morning hours on Thursday, Nov. 18.

John Fletcher, 51, of Conyers, was traveling eastbound on Ga. Highway 138 shortly after 1 a.m. in a Dodge Ram truck  and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with East Fairview Road. 

He then proceeded into the intesection and was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling southbound on East Fairview Road.  The Dodge Ram truck overturned and Fletcher was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was transported by medical helicopter to Grady Medical Center where he remains.

The crash is still under investigation, but Rockdale County Sheriff's Office traffic investigators suspect the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was impaired and ran the stop sign in the intersection.
