This Monday, July 16, the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a "Meet & Greet" political social from 5 p.m. -7 p.m. The event will take place at The Meeting House at Corner Market, 1755 Parker Road, Conyers.

"This is a great opportunity for the people to get to know the candidates and ask questions to get the answers they need. It's important for people to come out because we have a large number of nonpartisan races, and a lot of them will be determined on July 31," said Chamber of Commerce Chairman Lorraine Harrison.

All candidates running for office in Rockdale County are invited to come out that night. This even will not be a forum, and will not be structured. No speeches will be given, and no programs are to be expected. This is simply just an opportunity for Rockdale County to meet the candidates and partake in some good small group and individual discussions in order to get to know the candidates better.

A more structured candidate forum will be held on July 14 and July 16 by the Rockdale County NAACP, the Progressive Club, and the New Rock Legal Society..

On Saturday, July 14, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the forum will include candidates for the Board of Education, Superior Court Judge, Magistrate Court Judge, Probate Judge, and Clerk of Court. The event will be at Bald Rock Baptist Church, 2284 Old Covington Road, NE, Conyers, GA 30013.

Saturday, July 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the forum will hear from candidates for Sheriff, Board of Commissioners, State Senate, and State House of Representatives. The forum is at Peeks Chapel Baptist Church, 3185 Old Salem Road, SE, Conyers, GA 30013.

The forums are free and open to the public, and all are invited to attend. For more information visit rockdalenaacp.org or call (678) 458-0968.
