Last week, the Barksdale Boys and Girls Club had a Hispanic Celebration. It was filled with amazing talents. Some youths participated in a parade of flags representing different countries. It was very impressive to the audience. Next, the director of the performance gave certificates to the special people who really helped out. Many staff and members got awards. After all of this, the members put on an amazing performance. Each dressed up and impersonated several Latin-American celebrities.

The Hispanic program was so fun to be part of. It was kind of hard to say the words we had to say in Spanish. We had piñatas, Mexican food and the participants got certificates. I was a bit nervous but I got brave. Even though it was my first year, I experienced a lot of good things. My director, Ms. Celina, is very kind to me and others. She gave us candy and a lot of stuff. Our other helper, Ingrid, is very nice. Some of us used the flags and some of us danced.

This is my first year at the Boys and Girls Club. I was here in the summer but this is my first school year. I joined the Hispanic Festival. It was my first time. My mom was there, so were my cousins, my aunt, and my uncle. I impersonated the famous Mexican-American singer Selena. The flag I carried was from the country of Nicaragua. I had so much fun! We ate Mexican food.

Wow! That was fun! Did you go to the Hispanic Heritage Festival? If not, I'll tell you about it. AZUCAR! Do you know who Celia Cruz is? Well, she was there. It wasn't really her but I thought it was. The party was about celebrating Hispanic culture. It was also about how we should respect our different heritages and where you come from. So, thanks to my Boys and Girls Club that let me had a little taste of my culture.

My review on the Barksdale Boys and Girls Club Hispanic Festival:
The Hispanic Festival was great! We had a parade of flags of the USA and Latin countries. We also had lots of Mexican food.

In the Hispanic Heritage Festival, we held up flags and some people danced and had awards. My flag was from Costa Rica. After people danced, we hit the piñata and got a lot of candy but before we ate Mexican food. The festival was a lot of fun!
