A watchful resident helped the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office capture suspects that broke into a local gas station overnight.
Just before 12:30 a.m. Monday, July 28, the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office received a call of a burglary in progress at the Shell gas station located at 1804 Flat Shoals Road.
An alert citizen heard an alarm going off and looked outside to see two vehicles at the Shell gas station, including a white van backed up to the front door. The citizen called 9-1-1 and gave descriptions of the vehicles and suspects to dispatchers. The caller advised that the vehicles left the gas station and were heading back towards the interstate, so responding deputies staged around I-20.
Within minutes, a RCSO deputy spotted the white van and attempted to perform a traffic stop near Iris Drive and Sigman Road, but the driver failed to stop. As the van was attempting to get onto I-20 westbound from Sigman Road, the RCSO deputy performed the PIT maneuver and was able to stop the van.
The driver and passenger ran from the van and were able to elude capture, but items stolen from the burglary were recovered inside the van. It was later discovered that the van was stolen out of Atlanta.
Another RCSO deputy spotted the second vehicle used in the burglary just after 1 a.m. on I-20 westbound between West Avenue and Sigman Road. The deputy performed a traffic stop on it and three suspects were taken into custody, one of which is believed to have been the driver or passenger of the van that ran earlier.
The suspects arrested are Andre Brantley, 51, Marques Hood, 26, and Antonio King, 38, all of Atlanta. All three face a charge of Burglary and are in the Rockdale County Jail without bond. Both vehicles used in the burglary were recovered and are being held at the RCSO.
A cash reward is available for information regarding the identity of the other suspect from the van. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or Investigator Grote Levett at 770-278-8165.
