Four would-be burglars are in jail after Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputies rapidly apprehended them within minutes after they broke into a local pawn shop.

At around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, deputies responded to an alarm call at Lithonia Pawn Shop located on Jeremiah Industrial Parkway near the DeKalb County line.

When the first deputy arrived to check the alarm, they saw three suspects running from the building.

As other deputies responded to the area, two deputies saw a person wearing all black clothing and talking on a cell phone walking down the side of Old Covington Highway near the pawn shop. When they attempted to stop and check on him, he took off running towards a trailer park located on the Rockdale-DeKalb county line. The two deputies were able to quickly apprehend the subject. While they were checking him for weapons, they found a revolver and a key fob in the suspect's pockets.

Thinking that the key fob located on the first suspect belonged to the getaway vehicle, the two deputies advised other deputies in the area that they were going to press the alarm button in an attempt to locate the vehicle.

As soon as they pressed the alarm button on the key fob, a car alarm began going off inside the trailer park located just inside the DeKalb County line.

Other deputies quickly located the vehicle, taking three additional suspects into custody and recovering several firearms that still had tags from the pawn shop on them.

"Responding deputies did a great job of getting into the area and locating the first suspect," said Sheriff Eric Levett. "Quick thinking by setting off the car alarm of the getaway vehicle helped other deputies locate and swarm the vehicle, taking the additional suspects into custody. Rockdale residents should be proud of the RCSO deputies for taking these four armed and dangerous criminals off the streets and putting them in jail where they belong."

The first suspect arrested was Dareyion Nytriz Abraham, 17, of Riverdale, charged with Burglary, Possession of Firearm During Commission of a Felony, Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer, and Possession of Pistol/Revolver by Person Under 18.

The other three suspects arrested and all charged with Burglary are Derrick Teyion Abraham, 18, of Riverdale, Benandre Javon Goolsby, 17, of Decatur, and Derrick Jamal Malone, 18, of Atlanta.

All four are being held without bond in the Rockdale County Jail.
