The the three-member Board of Elections voted today to undo their actions from Wednesday, where the newly appointed party-independent third board member, Cary Bond, was appointed as the chairman, replacing Democratic member Garvin Haynes, who had been chair.
Haynes was reinstated as chairman today and Bond was voted as vice-chairman today.
Yesterday's actions at the special called meeting came after contentious discussion over the proposed changes, with Republican member Lynn Brown pointing out the chair has traditionally been with the third board member and Haynes pointing out there was less than a week to the election and Brown and Bond have very little experience - this was Bond's first meeting. The board ended up consulting with county attorney Qader Baig.
