Barbecue for United Way
bbq1sm

The skies were clear but United Way of Rockdale, Jim N' Nicks and Rockdale Career Academy students were cooking up a storm Sept. 26 in the 13th Annual BBQ Fundraiser at Rockdale Career Academy.

RCA Culinary Arts students assisted professionals from Jim N' Nicks to cook up hundreds of pounds of savory smoked pulled pork, tangy coleslaw, baked beans and more in RCA's commercial worthy kitchens.

Community leaders served dine-in and take out customers throughout the day.

More than 2,500 plates were sold at just $10 each. The BBQ sale is the biggest fundraising event for United Way, which is more in demand than ever. The proceeds go to the United Way and Family Promise of NewRock, a local non-profit organization serving the needs of homeless families in Rockdale and Newton counties.
