Rockdale residents took advantage of the sunny weather in the first half of Saturday with events and activities such as the first ever Parents Academy, the Hogs for Dogs fundraiser for the Gwinnett Humane Society at Stone Mountain Harley Davidson, and a car wash by members of the Rockdale County High School Marching Band.
The Parents Academy, organized by Rockdale County Public Schools at the Rockdale Career Academy, saw more than 200 registered parents and more than 100 registered children. Free classes included resume writing, couponing, cybersafety, financial planning, resume writing, nutrition, preparing for college.
RCHS marching band students raised almost $600 Saturday morning, washing cars at $5 each outside the NAPA Auto Parts store on Ga. Highway 138.
