Two suspects were arrested after an armed robbery attempt of a man selling a video game system Tuesday night. Deputies are still on the lookout for another suspect from the armed robbery attempt.
Just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an armed robbery call at Brandon Glen Apartments located at 1500 East View Road in Conyers. The victims said they went to the apartment complex to sell a PlayStation 4 video game system after arranging to meet a buyer. When they arrived, two suspects met them outside and held them at gunpoint and attempted to rob them. The victims, who were still in their vehicle, were able to drive away before being robbed.
As deputies searched the area, investigators were able to develop a suspect name and an address on Cornerstone Pass just off East View Road.
When deputies and investigators arrived at the residence just after 9 p.m., two people were in the garage and one of them attempted to run from deputies. Both subjects were detained and are now in the Rockdale County Jail.
The two people taken into custody are Emelio Greg Leach and Jonathan Deshon Ledbetter.
Ledbetter, 18, faces a charge of Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery.
Leach, 19, faces a misdemeanor charge of Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce for marijuana found in the garage when deputies arrived.
Deputies are still looking for the second suspect from the armed robbery attempt.
"Responding deputies and investigators did a great job to quickly apprehend one of the robbery suspects," said Sheriff Eric Levett. "Being able to arrest this dangerous criminal in just over an hour should show Rockdale County residents that the RCSO is committed to catching dangerous criminals and getting them behind bars. Our focus is now on identifying the second suspect."
Anyone with information about the identity of the second suspect is asked to call Investigator Grote Levett at 770-278-8165. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the RCSO tip line at 770-278-8188 and through Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
