Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio has reportedly been named the next pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He will take the name Pope Francis.
Born on Dec. 17, 1936, Bergoglio is a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and became bishop of Buenos Aires in 1992, archbishop in 1998 and cardinal in 2001. He is the first ever non-European pope.
Bergoglio was reportedly a finalist for the papacy previously and is seen as a widely-respected member of the church.
