State Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black stopped by the Rockdale Career Academy on Thursday as part of a tour with the Conyers Rotary Club. Students with RCA’s Future Farmers of America club presented their concerns to about Rockdale students not being able to access Rural Youth Loans due to population requirements in the policy. The low interest USDA loans would give FFA and 4-H youth up to $5,000 to help complete projects called Supervised Agricultural Experiences that are needed to advance in the organizations and be eligible to apply for scholarships. Black advised the students to write a letter to his office as part of the first step.
