A local organization is continuing its crusade to help women whose lives have been affected by the sex trade industry by raising funds through an upcoming golf tournament.
The 2nd Annual 4Sarah "Stop Sex Trafficking" Golf Tournament is accepting teams and sponsorships for the tournament scheduled for Monday, July 22 at Ashton Hills Golf Club. The non-profit is seeking to raise $10,000 for outreach and scholarship programs for women who are transitioning out of the sex trade industry.
Founded by former adult industry entertainer Kasey McClure in 2005, 4Sarah aims to empower change for the thousands of women and girls involved in the sex trade either as a sex trafficking victim, prostitute, porn star, escort or stripper each year. Funds raised provide scholarships for women seeking to exit the lifestyle and learn new job skills and continue their education.
"It is definitely spreading to the Conyers and Covington area," McClure, who herself is a Conyers resident, said in reference to recent arrests of several people involved in prostitution at local motels. "It is a moving target, and our goal is to help encourage women to stay out of that life."
Registration fees are $70 per player and $260 per team before July 12 and $75 per player between July 12 and July 22. The tournament will start at 1pm and lunch is included in the registration fee. There will be longest drive, hole in one and closest to the pin contests in addition to raffle drawings throughout the event. Organizers are also seeking hole sponsorships and individual donations. For more information or to register, visit www.4Sarah.net or contact Kasey McClure at 404-312-6793 or Kim Eskew at 678-414-8893.
