$10K grant awarded for Drug and DUI Court
Hospital-Authority-of-Rockd

CONYERS - The Hospital Authority of Rockdale County has awarded Rockdale County a $10,000 grant for its Adult Drug Court and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Court Programs.

The Adult Accountability Court Programs, which Superior Court Judge Robert Mumford and State Court Judge Nancy Bills direct, respectively, target offenders with multiple convictions of drug- and alcohol-related offenses.

The programs aim to reduce recidivism by addressing the root cause of these particular crimes in the repeat offender - a substance use disorder.

"I am grateful for the support of the hospital," Judge Mumford said. "This money will be used to provide medical care for those truly in need who are proven to be making progress to improve their lives by ending drug and alcohol dependency."

The programs use a collaborative approach to comprehensively treat, motivate and rehabilitate the participant.

The grant funds will be used to provide medical and mental health evaluations and treatment for Rockdale County residents enrolled in the Adult Accountability Courts from July 2015 through June 2016.
