Just a thought: Open the box

Open the box. No, really, open the box. You’re probably saying, “What box?” To which I would respond the box we all have. You know, the one we keep God in. Ah, now you get it, don’t you? We all have a God box. The box is our image of God, His size and ability. Some people’s box is bigger than others, but we all have one. Some are limited in size and we call them “the willing box” or “the God can’t use me box,” some have a “God can’t do that” size box while others have a “Well, God will only do so much box.” You get the idea, right? When was the last time God blew the lid right off your box? He is good at that. He blew the lid off the leper’s box when He drew near (something you never do when it comes to lepers) and then was willing and did heal him. (Wow, that guy had to go get a whole new box – his God didn’t fit in his box any more). God blew the lid right off some faithful friends (and a lot of other people’s who were there) box when He healed a paralytic man. They all had to go out and get new boxes. And “KABOOM” went the box of the scribes and Pharisees – there wasn’t anything left of their God boxes but smoke when Jesus got done with them. What’s the point? Simple…God doesn’t do boxes. But in order for us to figure that out – we have to open our box and realize, there is no area God can’t touch, there is no limit to God’s ability and there is no room for us to insist God stay in our box! “Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, ‘We have seen remarkable things today.’” (Luke 5:26) Open the box, and soon you’ll be saying the same thing!
