The city and chamber, according to reports, are studying the idea of moving money around in order to hire a full-time recruiter for retail.

With the quality of businesses that we currently have coming to the city and county, a full-time recruiter could be responsible for collecting and maintaining information that will allow us to attract retail businesses to our community.

That will not only allow people to stay locally and shop locally, but also increase the tax base. Then folks won’t be worried about having their taxes raised to support county and city services.

We support the efforts to create a new position that will actively recruit new retail businesses to our growing community.
