Every year about this time, you can count on one of our major industries to ensure that a real Thanksgiving is enjoyed by many community nonprofits.

The General Mills Co., through its community partnership program, last week presented $200,000 in grants to organizations in Newton, Rockdale and some surrounding counties.

The generosity of General Mills is more than appreciated by the thousands of local residents who benefit in some way from this support.

We ourselves have found the leaders of the local plant to be both helpful and generous. General Mills, in fact, joins us in sponsoring the annual Hometown Hero Award.
