We are fortunate in our communities to have some very good civic groups. Their members’ efforts are vital to many local organizations.

Two of these groups are currently conducting major fundraisers to help them keep up their civic activities.

In Social Circle, the Rotary Club, for the tenth year, will present the Social Circle Fair, running Oct. 22–26. This fair features great rides for the kids, some good, old-fashioned once-a-year fair food and entertainment for the whole family. There will be local vendors and helicopter rides as well.

And, if you can catch up with a Social Circle Rotarian by the end of the day Monday, you can get a great deal on children’s rides.

The Social Circle Rotary is a vital piece of what makes Social Circle a great place to live.

So, if you want to enjoy great family fun that is only a short drive away, make plans to visit the Social Circle Fair.

Here in Newton County, another great group of folks, members of the Covington Rotary, always show great grit and determination in their support of local programs and activities.

An example is the Rotary’s annual Sportsman Raffle, featuring some top-flight guns. A ticket is only $20, and the drawing will be Oct. 29.

Proceeds will benefit the Covington/Newton County Empty Stocking Fund and other community projects.

You can purchase a raffle ticket from any Covington Rotarian.

If you don’t know one, feel free to call our publisher, T. Pat Cavanaugh, at 770-787-6397. He will be glad to see to it that you get a ticket.

Fall brings out the best in people, and we are fortunate to have groups such as the Social Circle Rotary and the Covington Rotary to help us bring out the best in our communities and ourselves.
