The little town of Porterdale seems to be in the bull’s-eye scope of Hollywood producers.

In a story that ran Sunday, which you can read at covnews.com, we reported that Porterdale is in the running to be used for filming scenes for a movie called, "The Cell,’’ based on a Stephen King book. And a TV movie, "The Trip to Bountiful,’’ recently filmed scenes in Porterdale.

As neighboring Covington can attest, having movies and TV series film in your community can be a big financial shot in the arm.

As we have said before, Porterdale now has excellent leadership that is helping it continue to grow and prosper.

City Manager Bob Thomson has done a great job managing the city, but we also should applaud the work and dedication of Mayor Arline Chapman and the rest of Porterdale’s elected council.
