Our Thoughts... Support our troops

This year as we settle in to celebrate the holidays, we need to be thankful and mindful of our men and women who are in harm's way in far-flung corners of our Earth, defending our right to enjoy this time with our families.
If you have ever been away from your family for any reason at Thanksgiving or Christmas, it's a lonely experience that you will likely always remember.
On Saturday members of Operation Sandbox and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32 will be at the Covington square from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. collecting monetary gifts and goodies to be sent to our troops this holiday season.
You and your family can have fun by filling up a sack of treats like beef jerky, chewing gum, deodorant, popcorn or other items that can be sent to our brave warriors.
Bring your family to the square. They will be entertained by The Archmen band, there will be face painting for the little ones and a great car show including a Humvee and the General Lee.
Here is a chance for you and your family to say "thank you" to our troops and in doing so we are sure you will receive a good dose of early holiday spirit.
