Our Thoughts... Special thanks

A pat on the back again goes to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. The department’s efforts with the cooperation of Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, the Ketchikan (Alaska) police force and the Anchorage (Alaska) police department, have taken another pervert off of the streets.

Alaska resident Karl Cox, 55, thought he was sending pornographic images of himself to a 13-year-old girl living in this area.

Instead, he was conversing with Newton County sheriff’s investigators.

Thanks to all of you in the criminal investigations division for putting a sicko like Karl Cox where he belongs — behind bars for a long, long time

Also, special thanks to local hero Donnie Harris, who because of his quick actions, saved an elderly couple from possibly dying in a house fire on Ga. Highway 81 South this week.

Mr. Harris represents the kind of spirit that has made our county the special place it is to today.

Thank you, Mr. Donnie Harris, for taking the time to care.
