Our Thoughts... Fun for some

God give me work, till my life shall end

And life, till my work is done.

~ Epitaph of Winifred Holtby

This Monday we celebrate the federal holiday, Labor Day. For those of us who are fortunate enough on this day to have a job that pays our bills, it is a welcome break from a hard summer of work.

For thousands of our own neighbors and friends here in Newton County and Social Circle this holiday only means another day of worry and even fear of a future that looks clouded at best.

So far this year there have been more than 3,800 homes in Newton County alone that have undergone foreclosure.

As we celebrate this holiday, we will cook out and share time with our families, but our hearts will be filled with a prayer for those of our neighbors who are not celebrating Labor Day in the same way.

We have a great community in which to live and play and we are fortunate to have a kind and giving group of folks living here who have and will continue to support their neighbors who are in distress this year.

We ask you to pray for blessings for our neighbors in need and for strength to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, though it may look faint at times. Someday, and sometime hopefully not too far down the road, all of us pulling together will help make Newton County a booming community once again. Hopefully next year we will be able to celebrate Labor Day together with a great deal of hope and gusto as we have so many times before.
