We see and hear every day the bad news that one local business after another is either struggling or closing.
These developments are not only bad for the family involved with the business, but also for the whole community.
Two months ago a popular restaurant located in Porterdale closed its doors due to financial woes.
We were pleased to see that as of this week, Jimbo’s Grill at the Mill has reopened.
Jim Stalvey Jr., the owner of Jimbo’s, apparently has taken care of his financial problems. Stalvey, in a written statement said, "We are now open and ready to feed the whole town."
It’s encouraging for us to see businesses that have closed their doors come back to life with renewed spirit.
We salute Mr. Stalvey’s efforts and we wish him well on his reopening. Indeed, we missed the delicious Reuben sandwiches and hot wings for which the eatery was known.
We hope his perseverance to continue doing what he loves will rub off on others.
