The Social Circle Zoning Commission has approved and recommended for city council action the establishment of a drag racing business on 120 acres of land along the I-20 corridor.

This land rests both in Walton and Newton counties and is near the Stanton Springs Industrial Park.

We don’t have enough information yet to decide if this business would be good for Social Circle’s economy. We urge the Social Circle City Council to proceed cautiously in their review of this project.

If you wish to let your feelings on about the drag strip be known, there is a 6:30 p.m. City Council meeting Tuesday in the old city hall building.
