Industrial Development

In Sunday's paper there was a story that featured Roger Harrison, senior vice president of economic development for the local chamber, updating the Newton County Industrial development on the possible location of some new industrial partners. If you missed this you can catch up by going to covnews.com

Harrison told the chamber that there are 14 groups looking at Newton County.

One of these is a metal fabrication industry that could bring 140 jobs to the area and provide a nice tax base for the county.

Since there has not been a new industry that has located in Newton County for years, this is very positive news.

We also are excited about the possibility of other industries being interested in our community. In these tough economic times this small glimmer of light at the end of a long tunnel of frustration is very encouraging and hopeful for all of us.
