In the last few weeks, we expressed our viewpoint on the bad use of social media, and especially using it behind amenity.

It was announced this past week that Paula Dean, the darling of the cooking world until it was revealed that once she actually had a bad thought about racial relations and might have expressed that feeling in public, is closing down her iconic Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster house.

This is a direct fallout from the controversy that swirled over social media before it finally was picked up by the main stream media, that indeed, even though it was 20 years ago, Paula Dean did sin.

If any one of you has ever in your life said one thing that might be considered wrong about another’s race, then you can proceed directly to heaven without even having to be grilled by the keeper of the holy gate about your life, because you truly are a saint.

Paula Dean apologized over and over again and told us that she for sure didn’t harbor those feelings anymore, but because of the nameless agitators on Facebook and other social media — for all practical purposes — her career was ruined.

The closing of her restaurant is just another sad part of that demise.

The Bible tells us that those among us that are perfect should be willing to throw the first stone; the only perfect man we know of is Jesus.

We just ask that before you post anything on social media that might cause embarrassment or disgrace for anyone, think on it. If you still insist on posting it, have the courage to post your own name, and then if there is any backlash, you too can feel the pain that was caused by your malleolus post.
