God expects from men something more than at such times, and that it were much to be wished for the credit of their religion as well as the satisfaction of their conscience that their Easter devotions would in some measure come up to their Easter dress.
~ Bishop Robert South
Today is a day to celebrate our faith, to celebrate family, to celebrate our neighbors and even to celebrate our enemies.
We can do that because as a tenant of the Christian faith, we are charged to love everybody.
Of course, there are different degrees of loving people.
The Christian faith is based on love and forgiveness, but sometimes in our past, we have forgotten that. There were many atrocities committed in the name of Christ during the crusades, during the reformation and during the glory days of the Ku Klux Klan. The Christian faith, in spite of this, has survived because of the grace of Jesus — the same grace that saves all who believe in him.
The Christian faith is under attack today, but it will survive because it is the inherent nature of man to be loving and forgiving.
Today, if you are enjoying an Easter basket with children or getting ready to dress in your finest to attend the church of your choice or just planning a relaxing family day, remember that on this day, we celebrate the resurrection and fulfillment of prophesy for the Prince of Peace and our trust and belief in him keeps the world on an even keel in spite of our fears to the contrary.
Our staff here at The Covington News wishes you and your family a blessed, peaceful day this Easter.
