Grown-ups needed

There was an item we reported Sunday regarding an adult who allegedly made threats on Facebook to a middle schooler.

Police reported that the man is the father of a child who had "an ongoing issue" with the child who was reportedly threatened. The adult allegedly sent an e-mail that read:

"Hey you stupid little punk... Let me make this clear... I don’t mind going to jail if I have to take the place of your daddy and teach you how to leave people alone... I’ll put an end to this for good."

Let’s see if we have this straight: A grown man is apparently threatening an 11-year-old over some kind of issue involving another child.

Was this parent flustered? Probably. Frustrated? Obviously. But an adult nonetheless, a parent and a person who is supposed to set an example to children on how to handle life.

How sad.

Once upon a time, so long ago it seems like it was in a fairy tale, parents acted like parents. When children got into it, parents would talk, working together as needed and teaching their offspring how to deal with life with maturity.

Name-calling and implied threats are to be expected of children who know no better. Not from an adult who should.
