This past week, local company Triple Horse announced it was planning a 38 million dollar expansion here in Newton County.
The company said the initial investment will include five new stages, and the owners of Triple Horse said this initial investment will eventually lead to a total investment of 100 million.
We appreciate the fact the management of Triple Horse has the confidence in the continued growth of the film industry in Newton County.
During the bleakest of our economic recession, the filming of shows like “The Vampire Diaries” and the filming of major films like Denzel Washington’s hit movie “Flight” have provided a steady stream of income for local merchants and the tax base of both the city of Covington and Newton County.
There has been a major push by the chamber and its tourism arm to have our community known as the Hollywood of the South; we encourage an even more active push to create that image before another Georgia community tries to wear that crown.
