The Covington Police Department, under the direction of Chief Stacey Cotton, and the Newton County Sheriff's Department, under the direction of Sheriff Ezell Brown, deserve a great big pat on the back this holiday season.
Their joint effort in the quick capture of the Wal-Mart/United Bank Bandit continues a tradition of arrests of people who think Covington is just a sleepy, little place where they can stop and rob businesses of their money.
We hope this message is beginning to finally sink in - you don't mess with the Covington Police or the NCSO unless you want to end up behind bars.
