Low math scores on recent End of Course tests were disappointing not only to the Newton County School System, but to the community as well.

We are pleased to see that the NCSS is being proactive in looking to bring in a consultant to work with its math teachers.

We are equally pleased that a majority of the math teachers are not only willing, but eager to have the extra training. It’s this kind of professionalism and pride that are steadily improving our educational capabilities here in Newton County.

This is not only good for students and their parents, but for the community as well.

We recommend that the BOE approve the use of the consultant for math.
