Tom Turner moved to Oxford nine years ago in order to get away from the snowy winter of New York.
He must have saved a lot of energy not having to shovel that snow because he has put it to good use in his adopted city of Oxford.
Because of his efforts to make Oxford a better place to live, he was named the Oxford citizen of the year at last Saturdays Fourth of July ceremonies.
It's folks like Turner, who take the time to care about their community, who allow all of us to be proud to live in such an area.
